Meet Our Horses
PUMPKIN
Pumpkin was purchased from a facility called Crooked Fence Farm in Rochester Mills, PA.  This farm rescued Pumpkin from a situation where she was not properly cared for.  After some time, she was trained to work in their therapeutic riding program and did very well. Her background is somewhat a mystery, but she is thought to be Quarter Horse and Saddlebred.  Pumpkin is a beautiful Champagne color and approximately 17 years young.  She has been a wonderful addition to our farm showing the younger "whipper snappers" in her pasture how to properly behave.  Pumpkin appears to like her new home.  When she first arrived, she was a bit shy, but now enjoys meeting us at the fence.  Pumpkin knows she'll get pampered at the grooming station and then earn lots of hugs and smiles from our eager riders.  Pumpkin has the unique recognition of being the first therapy horse here at Horses of Hope.  Keep up the good work Pumpkin!

We are still in need of a sponsor for Pumpkin

JETTA
Jetta is leased to the program by one of our Instructors, Yvonne McCaslin.  Jetta is a 13-year-old quarter horse and has previous lesson experience. Jetta is extremely beautiful with a loving and kind attitude.  She is doing a great job helping our riders learn to ride.  We'd like to thank Yvonne for the privilege of allowing us to use Jetta here at Horses of Hope!

LEVI
Levi has been with us for several months now and has won the hearts of everyone who meets him.  He is a mini horse and came to us as a 4 year old who has spent his life out in the pasture with very little, if any, training.  Initially, he was a very nervous fella who didn't know what was expected of him at all.  Thanks to Ted and Ellie, he now has his own pasture and a brand new run in shelter.  He is getting to spend more and more time outside and this, along with some training and interaction with more people and horses, is really settling him down nicely.  He is learning stable manners and likes grooming (except for the rear hooves). In the round pen, he is really progressing.  Levi even has his own saddle which he doesn't mind wearing at all.   We don't have plans at this time for him to be ridden, but  we are hoping to soon get a harness for him to start teaching him to drive a cart. .
